Dorset Chamber Choir announces the details of our 2025 Passiontide Concert. We will be singing “The Passion of our Lord, According to St. Mark”, set to music in 1920 by Charles Wood (1866-1926), well known composer of Anglican church music.

 

This version of the Passion story takes us from the disciples’ passover meal up to the time when Jesus ‘gave up the ghost’. It is told in 5 sections, labelled as gospels. They are interspersed with hymns (some more well-known than others), also sung by the choir. We will be including some devotional readings as well.

 

We will be conducted by our Musical Director, John Watkins; organ accompaniment will be by well known local musician Chris Dowie. We are also delighted that the main solo parts, the Evangelist and Christ, will be sung by two young local talented singers.

 

The concert will be on Monday 14th April starting at 7:30 pm, at Broadstone United Reformed Church, Higher Blandford Road, Broadstone, BH18 9AB. Tickets cost £10, free for students and children. They can be ordered through our website, and are also available from choir members, or at the door (payment by cash or card).
